The Workplace Relations Commission found it had no jurisdiction over Elizabeth Berry’s complaint alleging discrimination on the ground of membership of the Traveller community, and made no award. Adjudication Officer John Harraghy said the complaint concerned seeking service at licensed premises operated by Phoenix Inn Limited t/a Kestrel House. In a decision dated 13 November 2024, he found that section 19 of the Intoxicating Liquor Act 2003 transferred jurisdiction over such complaints to the District Court. The WRC did not decide whether discrimination occurred.
