The Workplace Relations Commission recommended that a healthcare provider pay a nurse €750 for distress caused by delays and poor communication over his move to a new post. The recommendation, dated 3 December 2024, said there had been a lack of urgency, empathy and, at times, hostility.
The nurse said he had secured a Clinical Nurse Manager 2 position at another location but was not allowed to leave his existing post. The provider said it needed to retain staffing at the original location because of clinical risk. The officer recommended that they work urgently to enable the move and that the provider review its release procedures, communication and grievance arrangements.
The related dispute under reference IR-SC-00002717 was addressed in the recommendation, with no further action required under that reference.
