WRC recommends €1,500 compensation for worker after hospital failed to investigate grievance

The WRC recommended that a hospital pay a worker €1,500 compensation after finding it was at least partly responsible for not investigating her grievance about a colleague. A separate dispute over her lower salary did not succeed. The recommendation was dated 28 November 2025. The worker said the hospital failed to investigate grievances she raised in June and October 2022. The hospital said it had pursued informal resolution and that a formal investigation could expose both employees to disciplinary action. The officer found the worker had repeatedly sought an investigation and had not received one. In the second dispute, the worker said her administrative role paid about €9,000 less a year than her catering role. The officer found she knew the new role paid less and had not raised the issue as a formal grievance; the officer did not recommend in her favour on that dispute.
