WRC recommends Grade VII appointment and €5,000 for health and safety worker

The WRC recommended that a health service provider appoint a worker as a Grade VII Health & Safety Officer and pay her €5,000. The recommendation was dated 26 April 2024. The worker said her duties matched those of colleagues in other hospitals who were paid at Grade VII. The employer said it could not assign her the post without an open competition. She had performed Health & Safety duties from 2016 while paid at Grade IV, then became a Grade VI coordinator in April 2022. The officer recommended appointing her by designation at Grade VII from May 2022 and paying €5,000 in recognition of her earlier service.
