The WRC recommended that a police service pay a worker €36,600 after finding it failed to investigate his complaints effectively and act when he was publicly identified during the investigation. The recommendation was dated 25 February 2026.

The worker, who served for 33 years, said he resigned after the service failed to address his bullying complaint. The service said it had engaged appropriately with a complex case. The adjudication officer found the investigation had gone on too long and become futile, but did not find constructive dismissal because the worker’s reasons for resigning were unclear. The recommended compensation was approximately six months of his basic pay at retirement.
