WRC recommendation says academic institution pay dispute falls outside individual process

A worker’s dispute with An Academic Institution over progression, future earnings and pension arose from a collective payment agreement, the WRC said. The recommendation, dated 8 August 2024, found that any recommendation would have a collective effect on a group of workers and fell outside the individual industrial relations process. The worker argued her circumstances were unique and could be considered individually; the employer said the dispute arose from a collective agreement and was outside the individual process.
