WRC does not recommend higher pay for craft butcher at A Food Authority

By Ruairí Dolan

Historic decision · Decision date:

Place: no local area assigned from the source.

A WRC adjudication officer has not recommended that A Food Authority concede a craft butcher’s claim for an independent job evaluation and higher pay. The worker said his responsibilities had grown and he was not properly remunerated. The employer said the worker was already at the top of the maintenance craft worker scale and received several allowances. It put his annual remuneration at €59,676, including allowances of €4,113, €4,779, €5,713.71 and €510.04. In a recommendation dated 21 March 2024, the officer found the worker had not shown his duties were at a higher level than appropriate for his pay grade. The employer also argued the claim was barred by the public service agreement Building Momentum.
