The Labour Court directed Vino Classico T/A Unicorn Restaurant to pay Nour Amer €1,540 after finding he was owed public holiday pay, annual leave pay and compensation. The determination was dated 25 February 2015. Amer appealed after a Rights Commissioner dismissed his claim for want of prosecution when neither side attended. The employer did not attend the Labour Court hearing. The Court accepted Amer’s explanation for the delay, extended the time limit and found the claims were in time. On his uncontested evidence, it found payments were due under the Act: €65 for each of four public holidays, €780 in annual leave arrears and €500 compensation.
