Labour Court backs An Post proposal to transfer back-office work to Sligo

The Labour Court recommended that CPSU accept An Post’s proposal to transfer back-office work from the GPO in Dublin to four staff members in Sligo, alongside assurances given in conciliation. The recommendation was signed on 26 February 2015. The Court said it could identify no disadvantage to the workers and that the proposal would facilitate employees seeking voluntary redundancy. An Post said the transfer would address a staffing surplus and enable voluntary redundancies for employees in Dublin. CPSU opposed moving work outside central operations, raising concerns about precedent, redeployment and the effect on those positions. The Court did not recommend discontinuing the pilot scheme in Portlaoise and said demarcation disputes between union groups should be dealt with through other established machinery.
