The Labour Court upheld the €850 compensation award to Petra Bachrata after her appeal for increased compensation failed. Its determination was signed on 22 August 2012. The Rights Commissioner had upheld complaints about daily rest, meal breaks and notice of finishing times under the Organisation of Working Time Act 1997. Bachrata said she missed meal breaks and had 13 occasions without the required 11-hour rest between shifts. Carnegie Court Hotel accepted those 13 rest-period breaches and said it had changed its recording system. The Court found the award met the required standard and saw no reason to vary it.
