The Workplace Relations Commission found that Chanath & Slanco Ltd T/A The Field unfairly dismissed Hattie Romer and awarded her €2,352 net compensation. It also directed the company to pay €2,000 for complaints about statutory rest breaks and a written statement of employment terms. The decision was dated 14 August 2026.
Romer told the WRC she was sent home when she returned for a shift and received no explanation or clear confirmation of her employment status. She also said she regularly missed statutory breaks and never received written employment terms despite repeated requests. The company did not attend the hearing. The adjudicator found it had notice, and Romer’s sworn evidence was uncontested. The WRC upheld the three complaints.
