WRC allows John Brazil’s redundancy payment appeal

The Workplace Relations Commission allowed John Brazil’s redundancy payment appeal against Noel’S Car Wash, awarding a statutory lump sum based on service from 20 April 2001 to 30 June 2025 and gross weekly pay of €650, less €4,200 already paid. The award is subject to insurable employment. The decision was dated 29 April 2026. Brazil said he had not received his full statutory redundancy payment after the business closed. The owner disputed the employment arrangement and said money and machinery had been provided. The WRC accepted the business closure and employment period, and found €4,200 had been paid towards redundancy.
