The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) ruled it had no jurisdiction over Daniel Okroj’s complaint that Prestige Signs Ltd. dismissed him in retaliation for protected disclosures. The decision, dated 10 July 2026, said a claim that dismissal itself was penalisation must proceed under the Unfair Dismissals Act, not the Protected Disclosures Act. The WRC did not decide whether Okroj’s disclosures were protected or whether they caused his dismissal.
Okroj said he was dismissed after raising workplace safety concerns with the company and the Health and Safety Authority. Prestige Signs Ltd. disputed that the communications were protected disclosures and said the dismissal followed an unrelated workplace incident and disciplinary process.
