WRC rejects Staycity worker’s constructive-dismissal complaint

The Workplace Relations Commission found Toseef Chaudry was not constructively dismissed by Staycity Group, and rejected his complaint, in a decision dated 28 August 2026. Chaudry said the company sought to demote him from night manager to reception duties and reduce his pay after he requested a wage increase, leaving him no option but to resign. Staycity Group did not attend the hearing. The WRC officer found there was insufficient evidence of a fundamental breach of contract. The officer also found Chaudry did not appeal the demotion and pay reduction or make a reasonable effort to have his grievance addressed before resigning.
