The Workplace Relations Commission rejected Finbar Schregardus’s complaint that Abbott Rapid Dx International Ltd. unlawfully deducted €1,659.20 from his wages. In a decision dated 25 September 2025, the adjudication officer found the contract and sick-pay policy allowed sick pay to be paid net of social-welfare entitlements. Schregardus said he understood he could keep Illness Benefit while receiving 70% of his wages. The company said the deductions recovered sick-pay overpayments while he received the benefit. The officer found the deductions were not unlawful.
