The Workplace Relations Commission rejected Danut Nae’s complaint that he was racially discriminated against at a Supervalu shop on Talbot Street, finding no prima facie case. The decision was dated 9 July 2025.
Nae said a security guard objected to his manner of seeking help at a self-service checkout, told him he did not need customers like him, and later pointed and laughed with a colleague. He said the treatment was linked to his Roma background. The guard said Nae clicked his fingers to get his attention, and a staff member corroborated the guard’s account and denied seeing the alleged pointing and laughter. The WRC found no evidence linking the exchange or the CCTV footage issue to race.
