The Workplace Relations Commission ordered Bgs Security Limited to pay security officer Elly Kiprono Rop €45,240 in compensation under the security industry Employment Regulation Order. The decision was dated 2 September 2025.

Rop also won complaints over unpaid wages and written terms of employment. The WRC ordered the company to pay €1,088.49 in unpaid wages, subject to statutory deductions, and €1,200 for failing to provide his written terms statement. The awards are separate.

The WRC found that the security industry order applied to Rop’s work and set a minimum rate of €14.50 an hour from 1 July 2024. It said providing a contract for him to sign and then taking it away did not meet the employer’s duty to give him a written terms statement. Bgs Security Limited did not attend the hearing or submit written responses.
