WRC rejects two unfair-dismissal complaints against Mega Security Services

The Workplace Relations Commission rejected Brian Cosgrave’s protected-disclosure complaint against Mega Security Services Ltd, finding it was not well founded. In a decision dated 7 May 2026, it also ruled it had no jurisdiction over his second unfair-dismissal complaint because he lacked the required 12 months’ service. Cosgrave said he was dismissed after reporting overflowing bins at Manor Mills Shopping Centre, which he considered a public health hazard. The company said the dismissal followed concerns about his conduct, including blaming colleagues for duties that were part of his own role. The WRC found the bins complaint did not amount to a protected disclosure.
