The WRC awarded a worker €2,000 after finding he was unfairly dismissed by a company. Adjudication Officer Breiffni O'Neill dated the decision 24 September 2025. The company said the inventory assistant had solicited colleagues for cash transactions, creating a compliance risk. It accepted that the investigation and disciplinary outcome meetings taking place on the same day made the process unfair. The WRC found the company acted too hastily in deciding the worker was guilty of gross misconduct and that he had not received a fair and impartial disciplinary process. It also found he had contributed substantially to his dismissal through misconduct. The worker preferred compensation and had found another job quickly.
