WRC finds Donna Murphy’s dismissal and notice complaints not well founded

The Workplace Relations Commission found that Donna Murphy’s unfair-dismissal and minimum-notice complaints against Kc Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Ltd were not well founded. The WRC decision was dated 16 February 2026. Murphy said the company told her on 9 January 2025 that it could no longer employ her. The company said it intended a temporary layoff. The adjudicator found it more likely that Murphy was initially told her employment was ending, but concluded that she later accepted the clarified layoff position and requested statutory redundancy. The WRC therefore found no unfair dismissal and no entitlement to minimum notice. No award was recorded.
