The Workplace Relations Commission found Colm Griffin was not unfairly dismissed by the Department Of Social Protection after his fixed-term contract ended. Adjudication Officer Peter O'Brien’s decision was dated 17 September 2025. Griffin argued that another temporary employee continued doing similar work, so the stated reason for ending his contract was invalid. The Department said the contract ended when permanent staff could handle the Public Service Card project workload. The officer found the other temporary post had a different purpose and that full-time staff could do Griffin’s assigned work.
