The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) ordered Asba Meats to pay Thayane Sousa €20,000 compensation after finding the company discriminated against her on the gender ground relating to pregnancy. Adjudication Officer Ewa Sobanska dated the decision 21 October 2025.

Sousa said that after she disclosed her pregnancy, she was assigned more physically demanding duties and her working hours were reduced. The WRC considered her account, payslips and supervisor messages indicating there would be no work for her. Asba Meats did not attend the hearing and did not rebut the evidence.
