The WRC ruled that Andrei Charniauski’s age-discrimination complaint against Eirgrid Plc must fail after he did not attend either hearing and did not present evidence to substantiate it. Adjudication Officer Penelope McGrath, in a decision dated 20 January 2026, found he had not made out a prima facie case; the decision made no substantive finding on whether discrimination occurred. Charniauski alleged that Eirgrid discriminated against him on age grounds. Eirgrid denied discrimination and was prepared to defend the complaint. The officer had given Charniauski a second hearing opportunity after his first non-attendance; he missed that hearing too.
