The Workplace Relations Commission awarded Denis Korovin €2,500 after finding that his selection for layoff by Precision Parts and Products Limited amounted to unfair dismissal. Adjudication Officer Máire Mulcahy dated the decision 29 May 2026.
The Officer accepted that falling demand, depleted cash reserves and lost contracts created a genuine need for layoffs. But she found Korovin received only one working day’s notice, was selected without transparent criteria, and was not consulted about alternatives such as reduced hours. The company had argued he resigned voluntarily after applying for redundancy; Korovin said the layoff and lack of communication left him with no choice but to seek redundancy payment.
