The Workplace Relations Commission found that Nabil Djelladj was unfairly dismissed from Srm Book and Cook Limited and ordered the company to pay him €8,320 compensation. The decision was dated 9 April 2025.
Djelladj said the head chef told him he was fired and later posted a message indicating he had finished up. The company denied dismissing him, saying the head chef lacked authority and that senior managers told Djelladj he remained employed and was rostered as normal.
Adjudication Officer Michael MacNamee found that the message supported Djelladj’s account. He also found that management had not clarified promptly that he remained employed, and that the company advanced no grounds to justify the dismissal.
