The Workplace Relations Commission has awarded Colin Egan €2,760 after finding his dismissal by Avoca Handweavers Shops Limited unfair. The decision was dated 5 February 2026. Egan said his dismissal for alleged gross misconduct followed an unclear and flawed disciplinary process and was disproportionate. The company denied his claim, saying the process was fair and his conduct justified dismissal. The WRC found shortcomings in how the allegations were explained and the investigation material provided, while also finding Egan’s conduct contributed to the dismissal and his efforts to find work were inadequate. It awarded compensation after considering those factors.
