WRC awards Bruna Bianca Crespo Mello €8,500 over unfair dismissal

The Workplace Relations Commission directed Erin School Of English Unlimited. to pay Bruna Bianca Crespo Mello €8,500 after finding her dismissal unfair. The decision was dated 5 December 2025. Mello said the stated downsizing redundancy was not genuine and that a colleague continued doing her work. The employer accepted the process was procedurally unfair but argued her job-search efforts should reduce compensation. The adjudication officer found there was no genuine redundancy and that Mello had made industrious efforts to find work. Her separate Payment of Wages complaint was withdrawn.
