WRC directs The Neighbourhood operator to pay €650 in wage claim

The Workplace Relations Commission has directed At One North Main Limited, trading as The Neighbourhood, to pay Christian Hyland €650 after finding his Payment of Wages complaint well founded. Adjudication Officer Penelope McGrath’s decision was dated 4 April 2025. Hyland said he worked weekends in the kitchen for eight weeks and was owed wages. The company said he was an unpaid invitee observing and training. The officer found an employment contract existed and that the company had not made clear his work would be unpaid; she noted Hyland provided no evidence of the hours worked, which the company disputed.
