The Workplace Relations Commission directed Studio 54 to pay dressmaker Barbara Krasucka €3,240 in lieu of six weeks’ notice and found her redundancy complaint well-founded. The decision, dated 8 November 2024, also awarded a redundancy lump sum, subject to her having been in insurable employment during the relevant period; the amount was not specified.

Krasucka had worked for Studio 54 since 2005. After Covid lay-off, the business told her in July 2021 that it would not reopen. The employer did not attend the hearing. Adjudication Officer Eileen Campbell extended the time limit for the redundancy claim to 104 weeks, finding that the employer’s assurances about reopening and her return explained the delay. The €3,240 notice award represents six weeks’ pay. The redundancy lump sum calculation was left to the relevant department and was based on gross weekly pay of €540, subject to a €600 ceiling.
