The Workplace Relations Commission upheld four of Moegamat Jacobs’s complaints against Arina Ryan Limited T/A Bella Cafe, awarding €100 for statutory breaks, €584 for unpaid wages, €75 for Sunday work and €250 for missing written employment terms. The decision was dated 31 March 2025. The outcomes were mixed: seven complaints were withdrawn, three were not well founded and one was outside the WRC’s jurisdiction; the merits of that jurisdiction complaint were not decided. The breaks complaint succeeded because the respondent had no records showing required breaks were provided. The wage complaint succeeded after the parties disputed the hours worked and the amount owed. Jacobs also succeeded over unpaid Sunday premium and the lack of evidence that written core terms were provided within five days.
