The Workplace Relations Commission found that security company Bidvest Noonan (ROI) Limited did not discriminate against Hamza Tanvir because of his race. The decision was dated 8 October 2024. Tanvir said a fellow supervisor’s fixed shifts meant he had to cover late closing shifts at Dun Laoghaire Shopping Centre. The adjudicator accepted that Tanvir could reasonably see the roster as unfair, but found it was not based on his Pakistani nationality. The adjudicator also said Tanvir was ambushed when a meeting raised his absence from work, but found the managers had not intended him to resign. The race discrimination complaint was not well founded.
