The Workplace Relations Commission ruled it had no jurisdiction to hear Bridget Quilligan-Culligan’s complaint against Unicorn Bars And Restaurants Limited Unicorn Pub & Fables Restaurant. The decision, dated 2 October 2024, concerned an alleged refusal of entry to licensed premises on Travelling Community grounds; the merits were not decided.

Quilligan-Culligan said she and her husband were refused entry despite her account that the restaurant was taking walk-ins and had tables available. A security witness said he refused service because he believed her husband was intoxicated, and the respondent denied discrimination. The WRC concluded that a claim about prohibited conduct at licensed premises could be brought in the District Court under the Intoxicating Liquor Act 2003, and that it could not decide this complaint.
