The Workplace Relations Commission upheld Philomena Stewart’s appeal over Lifetimecare Limited’s failure to pay her statutory redundancy. The decision was dated 11 September 2024.

Stewart said she was told by WhatsApp that her employment was ending immediately and received no statutory redundancy payment. The company did not attend the hearing, engage with the WRC or provide evidence. The adjudication officer accepted Stewart’s evidence on its own merits, also noting consistent complaints from former employees dismissed on the same date. The appeal was upheld. The decision records her gross weekly pay as €234, but does not state a redundancy award amount.
