WRC rejects Eric English’s unfair dismissal complaint against Store-All Logistics

The Workplace Relations Commission found Eric English’s unfair dismissal complaint against Store-All Logistics Ltd was not well founded in a decision dated 20 September 2024. English said he expected his fixed-term contract to be renewed and believed its non-renewal was linked to concerns about his political activity. The company said the contract had expired and a drop in customer demand left no further work for him. The adjudication officer found the contract included an exclusion clause that met the legal requirements. She also found that the non-renewal followed a significant decline in customer demand and that the decision-maker was unaware of the customer complaint and political video. The WRC decided the Unfair Dismissals Acts did not apply to the dismissal.
