The Workplace Relations Commission found Tinka Zapryanova’s complaint against Borgo Accounting Ltd not well founded, ruling that she had no contractual entitlement to be paid for the overtime at issue. The decision, dated 10 September 2024, concerned a claim under the Payment of Wages Act. Zapryanova said she recorded 29.5 hours of overtime and had been told she could take the time off later, but could not use it before her notice period began. The company said overtime was rare and time off in lieu was its standard recompense. The adjudicator found her contract did not normally provide extra pay for additional hours, although weekend overtime was paid at the basic rate.
