WRC finds Garda disability complaints were outside the relevant time period

The Workplace Relations Commission found Gerard McGrath’s two disability-related complaints against An Garda Siochana were outside the relevant time period. The decision was dated 6 November 2025. McGrath said alternative duties and unpaid instructor allowances caused him loss of earnings. The Garda argued the complaints were late and that its circular did not concern the allowances he claimed. The officer found no act of discrimination within the relevant period and no fresh discriminatory act in the Garda’s later response or McGrath’s discovery that other instructors had received allowances.
