WRC time limit ruling ends Brown Thomas disability complaint

The Workplace Relations Commission ruled it had no jurisdiction to hear Leticia Valeria Villaca’s disability discrimination complaint against Brown Thomas Arnotts Limited because it was filed outside the time limit. The decision was dated 18 September 2024. Villaca said she resigned on 31 March 2021 and filed her complaint on 2 April 2024. She told the adjudication officer that limited English, unfamiliarity with the WRC process and difficulty finding help contributed to the delay. The officer found those reasons did not establish reasonable cause to extend the time limit. The merits of the discrimination allegation were not decided.
