WRC rejects Aoife Hartigan’s wage deduction complaint as out of time

The Workplace Relations Commission ruled it had no jurisdiction to hear Aoife Hartigan’s complaint against Irish Pizza Ventures, T/A Dublin Pizza Company, in a decision dated 17 December 2024. It made no award and did not decide whether the alleged €2,625 wage deduction was unlawful. The respondent argued the complaint was outside the statutory time limit. Hartigan said her lack of awareness of the limit and redundancy-related delay explained the late referral. The WRC found those circumstances did not establish reasonable cause to extend the deadline.
