The Workplace Relations Commission recommended that an employer pay a worker €5,000 compensation after finding she was dismissed without fair procedures. The decision, dated 5 April 2024, also rejected her allegation that the employer harassed her by asking her to remove its branding from her LinkedIn page. The worker said she had not been told about performance and timekeeping concerns before her dismissal. The employer said it had raised those issues and followed its probationary process. The adjudication officer found she had not been warned her job was at risk and there was no impartial process to consider the concerns or her responses. The officer accepted there were likely performance issues, noted the worker had nine months’ service and said she gave no details of her efforts to find work. The WRC recommended €5,000 compensation. It found the request to remove the employer’s branding was not harassment.
