The WRC has recommended against paying a National Director a Clinical Directors’ Allowance, but urged the worker and A Government Body to resume talks about pension service credit for time worked abroad. The recommendation was dated 5 April 2024. The worker said he needed to maintain clinical registration for his role and sought the allowance on that basis. The adjudication officer found his clinical shifts could be done at a time and place of his choosing, unlike the additional managerial duties associated with the allowance. The officer also accepted that paying it would increase costs and conflict with the public sector pay agreement.
