Eugene O' Hagan was found entitled to a redundancy payment after the taxi business where he worked closed, though the decision gives no payment figure. The Workplace Relations Commission, in a decision dated 4 April 2024, upheld his complaint under the Redundancy Payments Act. His employer, Mr Patrick Gilsenan, trading as Call - A -Car, accepted that O' Hagan was made redundant but said he could not pay the entitlement. The adjudicator found O' Hagan had worked continuously from 26 November 2016 until 31 July 2023 and was entitled to payment based on gross weekly pay of €499.
