WRC bars engineer’s discrimination complaint after earlier dismissal decision

The Workplace Relations Commission ruled that it could not hear Sivasundarasan Periasamy’s Employment Equality Act complaint against Microchip Technology Ireland Ltd because an adjudication officer had already decided his dismissal claim under the Unfair Dismissals Act. The decision was dated 2 June 2026. Periasamy had alleged race and gender discrimination, harassment, bullying and victimisation. The WRC did not decide those allegations. He said an internal investigation report received in 2023 supported his case; the employer argued the complaint was misconceived and out of time.
