The Workplace Relations Commission found that Michael Notdurfter’s complaint against Staycity Limited was not well founded. He had claimed approximately €2,097.85 for a pro-rata share of a 2023 bonus. The decision was dated 27 February 2024. Notdurfter worked as a Digital Marketing Executive from September 2022 until June 2023. He said he expected a bonus for the part of 2023 he worked and had been told it would be between 10% and 20%. His contract referred to a discretionary bonus scheme, but he received no further written details about its terms. Staycity said the bonus depended on company and individual performance and was decided annually. The adjudicator found there was no written agreement setting out the scheme’s details or eligibility criteria, and could not find that a pro-rata bonus was properly payable. Notdurfter had also left months before the company decided the 2023 bonus amount and paid its first instalment.
