Aoife McHugh was awarded €5,000 for accrued annual leave, €1,500 for six public-holiday entitlements and €5,000 in lieu of notice after Rinocloud Limited closed while she was on maternity leave. The Workplace Relations Commission also found her entitled to statutory redundancy, subject to insurable employment. Its decision was dated 19 February 2025.
McHugh said she was locked out of the workplace and IT systems when due to return from maternity and parental leave. The WRC found the business closed because of financial difficulties, not because of her pregnancy, and rejected her discrimination complaint. Her separate complaint that she was prevented from returning to work, along with claims for November wages and December and January wages and annual-leave pay, was not well founded. Her employer did not attend the hearing.
