Age discrimination complaint against Public Appointments Service fails

The Workplace Relations Commission found that Public Appointments Service did not discriminate on age grounds against Jorja Fogarty in a Prison Officer recruitment competition. The decision was dated 20 March 2024. Fogarty said the 4 August 2022 closing date excluded her because her Leaving Certificate results were not available until September. The service said it followed the recruitment code and eligibility rules. The adjudicator found the eligibility criteria were clear and Fogarty did not have the required qualification by the deadline. The complaint under the Employment Equality Act 1998 was not well founded.
