The Workplace Relations Commission ordered Michael O'Donohoe to pay Sinead Maher €3,000 after finding he discriminated against her by refusing to accept Housing Assistance Payment (HAP) for her accommodation. Adjudication Officer Jim Dolan’s decision was dated 10 April 2026.
Maher complained under the Equal Status Act. O'Donohoe said he did not want a two-year HAP arrangement because the property was intended as a family home. The adjudicator noted that no real or hypothetical comparator had been identified, but found discrimination after O'Donohoe conceded that he was not accepting HAP.
