The Workplace Relations Commission ruled it could not hear David Watterson’s complaint about a €924 wage deduction by Health Service Executive Galway Primary Care because it was referred outside the time limit. The decision was dated 30 May 2024 and made by adjudication officer Christina Ryan. The merits were not decided.

Watterson accepted that the HSE could recover the overpayment but disputed how it was deducted. He said he pursued internal grievance procedures and asked for more time to bring the case. The HSE argued that the complaint was late and the overpayment was recoverable. An internal grievance outcome upheld his grievance about the HSE's breach of its own financial regulation, but the WRC found that the internal process did not establish reasonable cause to extend the time limit.
