Nike Sanni entitled to redundancy payment after employer closed workplace

Nike Sanni is entitled to a statutory redundancy payment after the Workplace Relations Commission found her job redundant when her employer ceased operating at her workplace. The WRC dated its decision 22 April 2024. Sanni worked for Maxnrich Limited, a cleaning business, from September 2021 to September 2023. Her hourly rate at the end of her employment was €15. The respondent did not attend either hearing, and the adjudication officer reached a decision on Sanni’s uncontested evidence. The officer found that Sanni had more than two years of service. Her entitlement is subject to her PRSI contribution status and is calculated by reference to her hourly rate and service.
