The Workplace Relations Commission awarded Mark Langham €125,000 after finding Jmk Group unfairly dismissed him by making his Head of Operations Ireland role redundant. The decision, dated 5 March 2025, upheld his complaint under the Unfair Dismissals Act 1977.
Jmk Group said the role was genuinely redundant because of business costs and reduced operational needs, and that it used last in, first out selection. The adjudication officer found the group had not substantiated its financial case, had not engaged meaningfully with Langham about alternatives and confirmed the decision before the final consultation meeting.
