The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) ordered Suirsafe Technologies Limited to pay Barbara Remic €22,500 in unpaid wages and found she was unfairly dismissed after going about a year without pay. The decision was dated 1 December 2023.

Remic said her wages went unpaid from July 2022 and that she resigned on 4 July 2023 after repeated efforts to resolve the problem. The company did not attend the hearings or provide submissions. The WRC found that wages for April, May and June 2023 were unpaid and ordered €22,500 for those months. Earlier wage claims for July to September 2022 and October 2022 to March 2023 had been dealt with in other cases.

The WRC also ordered €10,384 in compensation for accrued annual leave and a further €3,000 for a breach of the Organisation of Working Time Act. It found that the prolonged non-payment made it reasonable for Remic to end her employment and that she was unfairly dismissed. The WRC awarded €6,923 in compensation for the dismissal, taking into account her insufficient efforts to limit her losses by seeking other work.
